SUSE RANCHER
Treat Rancher management and applications in managed Kubernetes clusters as separate protection targets. Make multi-cluster requirements visible.
STEP-BY-STEP GUIDES
Separate Rancher local management, RKE2/K3s and downstream application scope; distinguish the EraBackup agent method from Rancher’s own backup operator.
Open guidePrepare separate source, target and acceptance checks for Rancher management restore, RKE2/K3s cluster recovery and downstream application recovery.

DEFINE YOUR SCENARIO
A backup of the Rancher management application is not a backup of all application data in downstream clusters. Plan separate targets, scope and recovery order for management configuration and workloads.
Assess Kubernetes version, CSI driver, storage classes and permissions for RKE2, K3s and other managed clusters. A shared Rancher management layer does not imply identical operating conditions across clusters.
Rancher-specific integration and support scope are determined through compatibility assessment on the selected distribution. We work from cluster inventory, access models and an actual restore scenario.

COMMON QUESTIONS
According to Rancher documentation, the operator backs up the Rancher application in the local cluster. Protection of downstream application data must be planned separately.
We make no Rancher certification commitment. Compatibility assessment, installation-specific testing and scope confirmation are required for the relevant version and topology.
