EXCHANGE & ACTIVE DIRECTORY

Plan application recovery.
Include its dependencies.

Define the backup unit, application consistency requirements and recovery target separately for Exchange and Active Directory. Start with a technical scope that fits your needs.

STEP-BY-STEP GUIDES

From installation to recovery.

01

Exchange Backup

Prepare the Exchange agent, registered instance, database selection and backup acceptance plan. Check which release validates DAG, database and mailbox objectives.

02

Exchange Restore

Inspect the Exchange catalog item, recovery point and mailbox selection screen; distinguish a UI preview from an actually completed recovery operation.

03

Active Directory Backup

Prepare the AD agent, domain controller source, policy selection and catalog acceptance; distinguish object recovery from System State and forest recovery objectives.

04

Active Directory Restore

Prepare the AD catalog point, object identity, attribute difference and scoped restore delegation; assess Recycle Bin and System State objectives separately.

DEFINE YOUR SCENARIO

Microsoft Exchange

Database, mailbox and DAG scenarios have different access and recovery requirements. Share your Exchange version, database layout and test target. Confirm scope against the relevant agent and an actual restore test.

Active Directory

Object restore, System State and full forest recovery are different operations. Plan around domain controller topology, isolation needs and recovery type. General out-of-the-box support for full forest recovery is not claimed.

Consistency and application acceptance

A VSS snapshot does not establish that every application recovery option has been validated. Application-specific acceptance includes data, service and dependency checks after recovery.
