BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Check before you begin
Bare Metal Image Backup is a separate selection from File Backup. The inspected Agent Policy template uses windows_bare for Windows and linux_bare for Linux. An image entry alone does not establish coverage of every system disk, boot partition, application consistency or boot on different hardware.
Screenshots were captured from the actual lab interface on 16 October 2026. The interface is in English; explanations follow your selected language. Resource names, dates and settings are examples; use values for your own environment.
Some lab screenshots are withheld pending privacy review. Follow the documented steps and use your own environment values.
Visual verification limit: Firefox lab control could not reliably read the current page content during this inspection; no new Bare Metal screen was captured. The shared Agent Policy image below is reused unchanged from the earlier authorized inspection and has File Backup selected; it is not evidence of Bare Metal disk selection or restore. Bare Metal steps are based on inspected source templates; the installed release, disk inventory, recovery media and end-to-end boot require separate validation. No policy/backup/restore was started.
- OS, agent/master releases and disk inventory
- Boot mode, partition layout and encryption dependencies
- Repository capacity, recovery point and access
- Isolated destination disk and boot/data acceptance plan
011. Verify the recovery point and source scope
Match the windows_bare / Baremetal entry in Backup List with source server, backup ID and date. Document which point contains required system/data disks and boot partitions. Do not substitute a File Backup catalog for an image. Stop if repository data or any dependent chain is inaccessible.
Expected resultThe correct image and required disk set are identified.
022. Separate agent restore from full-system recovery
Check the Agent Policy record and OS identity for agent access; the example File Backup policy shown here is not Bare Metal evidence. The inspected pageTwoBaremetal offers only Original Location and proceeds to RESTORE DISKS selection. Full-system disk recovery may require an offline environment; do not apply these steps to the running system.
Shared Agent Policy access example: File Backup was selected in the earlier real inspection. This is not a Bare Metal disk selection, image catalog or recovery screen; it illustrates agent identity and connection prechecks only.
Expected resultThe data path and recovery type are clear.
033. Prepare the recovery environment and boot prerequisites
For full-machine recovery, obtain validated recovery media/procedures matched to the installed release from the technical team. Check UEFI/BIOS, storage/NIC drivers, networking/TLS, repository access and BitLocker recovery access in isolation. WinPE/ISO generation and media boot were not validated in this inspection; do not assume a download link or automatic boot repair.
Expected resultRecovery-environment suitability is verified before any write.
044. Compare the destination disk and data-loss impact
For RESTORE DISKS, verify destination physical identity/serial, capacity and partition mapping. The inspected Windows code disables C: system volumes, errored disks and undersized disks. This guard is not evidence of a complete offline system restore flow. Use an approved isolated destination whose contents may be lost instead of a production disk; disk writes can destroy existing data.
Expected resultSource/destination disk mapping and effects on existing data are approved.
055. Review the final summary and separate Recovery flow
In the agent flow, verify backup ID, destination and destination_mount mapping. The separate Baremetal Recovery source template offers Baremetal ISO Backups and VMware or Safir Bulut/OpenStack destination fields; this is a different recovery path. A visible menu does not guarantee P2V, different-hardware recovery or success for every OS. Execute final Restore / Start Recovery only with a validated test plan and the correct destination.
Expected resultThe selected flow’s summary and destination match the same plan.
066. Check isolated boot and disk integrity
After approved recovery, first compare task results, written disks/partitions and boot mode. Perform the first boot on an isolated network to prevent duplicate server identity/IP/domain effects. Check filesystems, volumes/mounts and sample-file hashes. A success notification alone is not boot or application acceptance. No restore/boot operation was executed while preparing this document.
Expected resultDisk and boot results are accepted using independent checks.
077. Document services and recovery time
Check Windows services, Event Viewer, volume access and application data with the responsible owner. Complete separate application-recovery procedures for SQL/Exchange/AD. Record boot time, RTO/RPO, backup ID, releases, disk mapping and errors. Do not retire the source server before isolated acceptance.
Expected resultThe boot, data and application acceptance report is complete.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Does an image entry guarantee full-system recovery?
No. Disk/partition scope, media, drivers, encryption and destination boot/data acceptance need separate validation. Agent disk restore, ISO/Recovery and application recovery are assessed separately.
