BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Check before you begin
License entitlement, release compatibility and data-recovery acceptance are separate concerns. This guide is based on local code/package documentation; sample releases, capacities and rollback behavior are not guarantees for every installation.
Visual/action limit: no real license/updater screen was captured in this inspection; another screen was not substituted. Content is based on license_manage.py, related license handlers and unified updater documentation. No license file/manager, server setting, timer, package, migration, service restart or rollback action was performed. Commands are read-only check examples; they were not executed in this inspection.
- Authorized operator and installation/machine identity
- Valid license or signed release package
- Maintenance, backup and rollback planning
- Release, service and data acceptance evidence
011. Record license ownership and installation identity
Record company/tenant, authorized operator, master machine identity and installed release. Compare source/platform/capacity scope with the current agreement/license record; example numbers here are not prices or commercial entitlements. Keep the license file and machine UUID out of public support output.
Expected resultScope, release and the relevant check result are recorded.
022. Separate validity and consumption checks
The inspected check_license_validity checks readability, machine_uuid, end_date, count and consumption. UUID mismatch, expiry, zero capacity and overuse are distinct states. Local code may warn at remaining capacity <=2; do not generalize the threshold to every release or commercial plan.
Expected resultScope, release and the relevant check result are recorded.
033. Validate license-manager connectivity
Compare license_server and validation mode in the installed license screen with the approved record. Code accepts license_run values 1/2, while manager retrieval requires mode 1. Do not change values to bypass validation. Validate DNS/network/TLS and authorized-administrator scope with the technical team; changing servers is not an ordinary refresh.
Expected resultScope, release and the relevant check result are recorded.
044. Use an authorized license file or manager path
The inspected upload path accepts .lic and invokes validation. Manager retrieval may register/generate records, so do not treat it as read-only. Use the supplied authorized license for the correct master through a protected operator process; do not edit its contents, hash records or UUID fields manually. This inspection uploaded no file and made no manager call.
Expected resultScope, release and the relevant check result are recorded.
055. Plan renewal, migration and capacity changes
Before renewal compare expiry, consumption and changed resources with the license owner. Hardware/VM migration may affect machine_uuid validation; copying the license to another server is not validated rehosting. Do not delete tenants/licensed resources to test capacity reduction; agree an authorized renewal/rehost procedure.
Expected resultScope, release and the relevant check result are recorded.
066. Diagnose operation denial by cause
A license_required-protected path may return Operation denied for invalid licensing; this does not prove every endpoint or restore operation behaves identically. Distinguish file, time, UUID, capacity and connection causes. Use support with redacted errors/installation identity rather than disabling checks; separately validate recovery behavior after expiry.
Expected resultScope, release and the relevant check result are recorded.
077. Document results and renewal ownership
Keep validity/capacity, master identity, license source and authorized-action results in a protected record. Assign renewal ownership; automatic reminders, offline grace periods and automatic rehosting were not verified here. This inspection changed no activation/deactivation, consumption or customer records.
Expected resultScope, release and the relevant check result are recorded.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Is a file upload or health check enough?
No. Validate identity/scope, release and post-action data acceptance separately. Licensing and upgrade/rollback are different operations.
